If you need a pump to support breastfeeding or chestfeeding, it is covered for LifeWise members through the Affordable Care Act. If you buy one through an in-network hospital or provider, they will submit a claim on your behalf.

Most health plans must cover standard electric breast pumps as part of preventive health coverage. Rental fees for hospital-grade breast pumps may be covered, if medically necessary. Manual pumps aren’t covered.

You can find a list of in-network breast pump providers the LifeWise website. If you live outside Alaska and Washington, please call the customer service number on the back of your ID card for help finding in-network providers.

The Affordable Care Act mandated many health measures for women. ACA health plans also must cover lactation counseling.

For information about your plan-specific benefits, contact LifeWise customer service at the number on the back of your ID card, log in and email customer service, or check your benefit booklet.
